Tennessee – ASAP Family Camps
ASAP Family Camps are designed to support the healing and growth of families. Families participate in one weekend of fun outdoor activities designed to promote deeper understanding of one another, reconnecting in meaningful, lasting ways. Camp is also an opportunity to connect with other families who share a similar experience. Children must be at least 5 years old to participate.
Tennessee Adoption Support and Preservation Program (ASAP)
The Adoption Support and Preservation Program (ASAP) provides evidence-based, trauma-informed therapeutic and educational post-adoption services that meet the unique needs of adoptive and guardianship families. The services are available for free to any Tennessee families who have either made their intent to adopt known or who have already finalized adoptions through Tennessee and families who have adopted through the public child welfare system in another state and moved to Tennessee. Families adopted through private, domestic, or intercountry channels are eligible for ASAP on a sliding scale fee basis. The Family Check- Up
The Family Check-Up (FCU) model is a family-based intervention that targets adolescent problem behavior and promotes positive family management. The FCU has two phases: (1) Initial assessment and feedback; and (2) Parent management training (Everyday Parenting) which focuses on positive behavior support, limit setting, and relationship building. Phase 2 can also include family counseling, individualized services, or other support services. FCU is appropriate for families with children ages 2-17. Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI)
Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) is a crisis prevention and intervention model for residential child care organizations that will assist in: creating a trauma-sensitive environment where staff and children feel safe, preventing crisis from occurring, de-escalating potential crisis, effectively managing acute crisis, reducing potential and actual injury to children and staff, learning constructive ways to handle stressful situations, helping children process the crisis event, and improving childrenÂ’s coping strategies. TCI has materials available in English and Hebrew.
Theraplay
Theraplay is an evidence-based dyadic child and family therapy developed for any professional working to support healthy child/caregiver attachment. Theraplay uses practitioner guidance to create playful and caring child-adult interactions. Theraplay focuses on four essential qualities found in healthy parent-child relationships: structure, engagement, nurture and challenge. Through Theraplay, caregivers will learn to play with their child in a way that establishes felt safety and supports the development of positive self-esteem for both child and caregiver.
Together Facing the Challenge (TFTC)
The Together Facing the Challenge (TFTC) is a consultation approach to improve the skills of foster parents and their agency staff. The model focuses on the in-home intervention elements (and creating skill levels to implement strategies effectively) and on the important role of supervision and coaching in helping foster parents work effectively. So, the approach includes training/consultation for agency staff and practical parenting training for foster parents. Training for Adoption Competency (TAC)
Training for Adoption Competency (TAC) is a manualized adoption-competency, clinical training program for licensed mental health professionals and child welfare professionals working with families formed through adoption. TAC features a 72-hour, 12-module training curriculum, six 90-minute monthly case consultation sessions, trainer credentialing and support process, and ongoing multicomponent evaluation. TAC students master key clinical skills that support adopted children and their foster, adoptive and kinship families. TAC is typically completed in 18 months, but it can be delivered in a few months, if necessary. TAC is typically conducted in-person via classroom or virtually.
Transtheoretical Model (TTM)-Based Stress Management Program
The Transtheoretical Model (TTM)-Based Stress Management Program targets adults who have not been practicing effective stress management for 6 months or longer. TTM’s premise is that behavior changes over time as individuals move through five stages: (1) Precontemplation, (2) Contemplation, (3) Preparation, (4) Action, and (5) Maintenance.
Trauma Adapted Family Connections (TA-FC)
Trauma Adapted Family Connections (TA-FC) is a conceptual model for working with families with at least one child between 0 and 18 experiencing complex developmental trauma. It builds on Family Connections principles and service components to provide trauma-focused interventions across five, broad domains: (1) trauma-focused family assessment and engagement; (2) psycho-education to teach family members about trauma symptomatology; (3) a focus on building safety capacity with the community and immediate environment; (4) trauma-informed parenting practices and communication; and (5) trauma-informed approaches to working with families.
Trauma Affect Regulation: Guide for Education and Therapy (TARGET)
Trauma Affect Regulation: Guide for Education and Therapy for Adults (TARGET) is an educational and therapeutic approach for the prevention and treatment of traumatic stress disorders. TARGET teaches a seven-step sequence of skills, the FREEDOM Steps, designed to enable participants to recognize, understand, and gain control of stress reactions by enhancing their strengths/abilities for mental focusing, mindfulness, emotion regulation, executive function, and interpersonal engagement/interaction.
