Provides a description of parental post-adoption depression (PAD), and the research conducted by Dr. Foli. The findings reveal that parental expectations are associated with depressive symptoms in adoptive parents. This podcast also provides suggestions on how to reframe expectations of themselves as parents, of the child, of family and friends, and of society are explored.

California DSS will be receiving on-site technical assistance through the Post-Adoption Center California DSS’ commitment to developing a robust post-permanency program will further their efforts to strengthen adoptive and guardianship families.
Adoption is a lifelong journey. Oregon DHS will begin their journey of receiving on-site technical assistance with the Post-Adoption Center to further their commitment and responsiveness to adoptive, guardianship and kinship families.
