Description

Assessment-Based Treatment for Traumatized Children: A Trauma Assessment Pathway (TAP) incorporates a multifaceted assessment process to enable clinicians to gain an in-depth understanding of: the child; their developmental level; their traumatic experience; the family, community, and cultural system in which child lives. The information is then used to (1) triage the child into the best treatment option; (2) treat the child and family with the most appropriate evidence-based intervention; and (3) assist the clinician in making decisions throughout the treatment process.

Providing treatment center staff with the knowledge and skills to incorporate standardized assessments into the intake and ongoing treatment process; Providing a treatment model that is directed by the uniqueness of the child and his or her family; Providing guidelines for clinicians to make decisions regarding trauma treatment strategies based upon the child’s unique presentation.
