Description

Kids in Transition to School (KITS) is an evidence-based school readiness program that helps children at high risk for school difficulties to be better socially and academically prepared for school. KITS was designed with a two-pronged approach: (1) a 24-session school readiness group curriculum focused on early literacy skills, early numeracy skills, self-regulation, and social skills, and (2) an 8 to 10 session workshop for caregivers that fosters opportunities for peer to peer support and the use of positive parenting practices. Each school readiness and parent group sessions are 2 hours long. The manualized KITS curriculum is delivered during the two months before and the first two months of kindergarten.
