Description

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services contracts with private agencies across the state to provide intensive, family-centered support and therapeutic services to help families formed through adoption and guardianship gain stability and reduce the risk of out of home placement. The Adoption Support and Preservation (ASAP) programs are voluntary and available to all adoptions (including domestic private, intercountry and adoptions from foster care) and subsidized guardianship families for free.

Each ASAP agency offers a variety of strengths-based and trauma informed therapeutic interventions, which allows the flexibility to effectively meet the needs of the families and children. ASAP services include support groups (for both children and adults), case management/advocacy services, children mental health advocacy services, individual and family counseling, and respite. ASAP services also include 24-hour on-call assistance and help with securing resources.
