Pre-permanency preparation provides families with information and understanding regarding current and future needs of children joining their family through adoption or guardianship. Pre-permanency prep services, including training and therapeutic intervention, allow families to hold appropriate expectations about adoption/guardianship and to enhance skills needed to best parent children with histories of trauma, maltreatment or attachment breaches, and normalizes the need for post-permanency services. In this chat, Harmony Family Center’s seamless pre- to post-permanency service array and in-depth pre-permanency education curriculum, a requirement for all child welfare professionals in the state of Tennessee will be discussed.
