Description
Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a client-centered, directive method designed to enhance client motivation for behavior change. It focuses on exploring and resolving ambivalence by increasing intrinsic motivation to change. It can be used by itself or in combination with other treatments.
MI directly provides services to adults and addresses substance abuse or dependence and other health/lifestyle behavior change issues. Services are provided in 1 – 3 individual 30 to 50-minute sessions. MI can be delivered in a hospital, outpatient clinic, community-based agency, and residential care. MI has materials in Bulgarian, Chinese, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Romanian, Spanish, Swedish, and Turkish.
